This is a record I’ve sampled from a lot over the last decade or so. I can’t even remember when I first got it but I love it & lots of clips make it into my tracks [see MINIMIX] … here is a little bit
In a weak DRAG RACING link, whenever I hear some of ‘The Big Sounds Of The Drags’ I think back to listening to the John Peel Show in the 80s, finger poised over the record button of my little cassette player, when I first heard ’Drag Racing’ by a group called Big Stick…
I never managed to get a copy of it, or even a tape recording at the time (I did manage to tape a track called ‘Jesus Was born On An Indian Reservation’) but – naturally – it’s now available on the internet
I suppose this is the beauty of music… a song I heard maybe a handful of times in 20-odd years had a big influence on the music I make now.
